Event-FUL
- 26 Nov to 11 Dec -
Busking on the big stage along the Esplanade.
Completed my first two full weeks with Grayling Singapore today. I must say that the week gone by had been eventful. And really EVENT-FULL. If you don't get what I mean, reading further down and you will get an inkling.

Met up with my Hong Kong-Aussie friends who were in Singapore for their holiday. Brought them around over the weekend before ending their trip on a high with a seafood dinner at No Signboard Restaurant (Esplanade). Honestly, the service at No Signboard that day was deplorable. To get an order through or get the attention of a waiter/waitress is indeed stressful. Waited almost 30 minutes to get our food ordered & I felt so bad in front of my friends from Hong Kong. Although I tried to reassure them that the service standard is a one-off, the staff at No Signboard kept on disappointing me throughout the course of our dinner.
My friends from afar taking a shot in front of Marina Bay Sands.
Eventually we quickly left the place for Boat Quay where we chilled out at the Baa-Baa Black Sheep bar with a Tiger beer in hand. So Singaporean indeed was the experience huh...Couldn't stay late as I had to work the next day. How sad isn't it? Wished I could have stayed longer with my friends.

Cheers to a Tiger!
Within just 7 days at Grayling, I attended almost 3 events. First up was the Singapore Yacht Show 2012 Media Gathering at One Degree 15. Haven't been to such an exclusive venue before. So I was extremely happy to be able to feast my eyes on the magnificent and majestic yachts anchored at the Marina. Then a few days later, was tasked to attend the launch of a TNT Express facility in Changi. Got to meet some big-wigs from the political spectrum and the media. Notably, I saw the Minister of State (Finance & Transport) Josephine Teo face to face. It made my day. The next day, I then went for an ECA International breakfast event at Hilton Singapore.

Evidently, I was out of office for most of the time and I could not be happier. Staying in the office for too long can make one a dull Joe. Thank you, Grayling for the opportunity to put all my knowledge into practice. Met a lot of media people too through these events and certainly these connections may become useful in future when I officially start work..ahhaah!

Finally, capped off the week on 8 Dec with a bad bout of flu, sore throat, cough and fever. A potent mix. Although I did not want to go on medical leave having just started in my job, I had no choice. I couldn't concentrate that day, 8 Dec and so went to see a doctor thereafter. Unbeknownst to me, I was already having a fever of about 39 deg c. No wonder I felt fatigued and it was so bad that the doctor gave me a 2 day MC and asked me to rest over the weekend. As you know, it is a sad, sad thing when the weekend that I've been looking forward to the entire week just disappears like that. Can't go out, nestled at home & many appointments cancelled....what a dampener.

Just hope that I can recover in time for it all as the festive period beckons...just don't want it to be a season of sickness but a season of revelry!
