“FAT Book.
- My 1st Day at Grayling Singapore -
Finally my first day of my first internship experience has arrived. Found the prospect initially daunting but I'm glad I managed to settle in well. It's a Friday but also my 1st day. Why Friday? Well, Fridays are the least busy of all days and if I were to come in on Monday when the agency is most busy, there won't be time to brief me.

Glad to have a personal workstation coupled with a Grayling email account. I wasn't expecting for an email account to be created for me since I will only be there for a short term. My colleagues are great, always bubbly and welcoming. Had a late lunch today with some of them at Sakae Sushi and got to know them better over lunch. Heard from them that at times, lunch is a privilege as being a PR agency, work may get pretty hectic at times.

Honestly, I was startled by the enormity of the lunch-time crowd in Singapore's CBD...OMG! There were queues at every corner, nook and cranny or food outlet. Seemed like I should either go for an early lunch or late lunch in future, away from the peak period of 12pm - 1.30pm.
Regarding my duties, I was tasked to handle the "media report" for Rolex's portfolio called a FATbook. Yes, you heard me right. A FATBOOK! That's because it contains all the media clippings/mentions for our clients and it can amount to a really FAT, FAT book literally. I have my supervisor to thank as she led me through the complexities and issues that may arise from this FATBOOK. Was so confused by some stuff. Hopefully, I will get better with it soon. After all, all these things are new to me and I am glad to be given the opportunity to handle them under the astute guidance of my colleagues/ supervisors.
Given it's a Friday and during the holiday period, I have yet to meet every staff from the office. I ain't good at remembering names but trust me, I will get better in remembering my colleagues' names sooner rather than later. Looking forward to meeting everyone of them when they come in next week.
As I anticipate the beckoning of my weekend, I have also realised how tough working life is. I can now empathise with the fatigue one experiences after one work day. Certainly, studying is a much more pleasurable experience you students/kids out there. You must work to understand how hard to earn one's bacon (money). It's tough but that's the way of life.
Ok, am off to enjoy my weekend before another hectic week ahead!
