Behind Every Quote, There Lies A Story.

You are invited to discover the stories behind quotes that have impacted me in one form or another.

36 Boon Teck Road

This place was the venue of Grayling's Team Annual Christmas-Do. This was also an ultra-environmentally friendly home, snagging the BCA Green Mark Platinum award and was even featured in The Straits Times' Life! section in July. Owned by a couple, they brought my colleagues and I on a brief tour of their humble abode. Humble? Well to me, it is a well-designed and creatively conceptualized house nestled in a rather traditional district of Balestier. However, the house is certainly not something a humble or average Joe can afford.

Back to the Christmas party itself, we hired a private chef and baker for our private event on a wet Thursday. I know the baker is called Sean but not so sure who the chef was. It was a delectable spread befitting of a Christmas celebration. A 10 course degustation menu together with a 6-course dessert menu. From prawn with white bait to Cassis mousse with wild blackberries and balsamic vinegratte compote. Oh my, before I even reached the 6th course, my stomach was almost full. We switched between main course and dessert so that we won't be too full to savour the dessert. In retrospect though, I thought it might have been better to have all the main courses first then the dessert because mixing them is not ideal for my taste buds.

Finally, the highlight of the day was the theme itself. Our office chose to have LMFAO, the American hip-hop group's fashion style as our theme. Anything that is extravagant and outrageous be it bright colours or gold chains, it fits the theme. As for myself, I wore an afro wig together with a gold chain and a white retro specs. Totally enjoyed the experience of dressing up but the wig certainly made me sweat amidst the hot and humid Singapore weather.

To cap it all off, the day did not end as well as I had hoped. The North-South MRT line broke down and I had problems finding my way home. Eventually, I had no choice but to ring my dad to fetch me home...before another day at work resumes again. The only consolation was that it is TGIF:)!
