HAPPY 2012!!!

Finally, we are in 2012. 2011 has been a great and momentous year for me both academically and in terms of my health. Well in 2012, I just hope for very much of the same. PLUS maybe someone to add to my already colourful life? Hmm...we shall see.

As usual, I am not a fan of countdown parties. Marina Bay Countdown? No. VivoCity Countdown? No. Sentosa Countdown? No. Just leave me out of countdown parties. Ever since I went for 1 countdown party years ago, I decided that countdown parties ain't my cup of tea. No point squeezing onto public transport. No point being at the venue early to reserve a good spot for a 15 mins. plus fireworks display.

In fact, I did it on a more personal note this year. I spent time with my family and friends at their homes, mingling, chatting, playing what not. Isn't that better?

Watching the fireworks display beamed LIVE from Marina Bay on the TV is good enough for me. Admittedly, Singapore's fireworks display is way much better than Melbourne's. In Melbourne, it was just a few spurts of fireworks for approximately 5 mins and it's gone. At least the pyrotechnics is better and duration much longer here in Singapore!

Today, I went back to work. Lots of work to clear after our office shutdown during the Christmas and New Year period. If you're wondering how come I was still working during the shutdown, it's because the "shutdown" just means working from home. What's more, I'm only an intern at Grayling and so I am not entitled to take off-days like permanent staff do.

Heard that there will be a new intern coming next week. Guess what! She's also from the University of Melbourne and takes the same course as me. Only difference? She's a year more senior than me in terms of our studies. That's not to say that she's older than me. In fact, from my brief conversations with her during her interview last Friday, she's actually younger. Well obviously...given the years I spent serving National Service.

The plus side of this is that I am no more the most junior member in the office. Now I have someone who can share my workload and any "sai gang" (Hokkien) or miscellaneous chores (if any) to do, I will be able to side-step it a little...ahaha! No longer the "bitch" as my colleague affectionately terms it to be...BUT definitely it's always great to have someone new to talk to in the office. Adds a little bit of vibe!

Fingers crossed! We shall see in the weeks to come how much of a help she can be. As usual, I'm confident she will assimilate well into the Grayling team and made to feel very much part of the family just like how it was when I first joined Grayling Singapore. Cheers!
